The Afghan Hound Club of Austin is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of purebred Afghan Hounds. The Club's objectives are;
To urge members and area breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the Afghan Hound Club of America as the only standard of excellence by which Afghan Hounds shall be judged. To encourage sportsmanlike conduct and competition at dog shows, lure coursing and other related events. To conduct AKC sanctioned and licensed specialty shows and lure trials. To discourage members and area breeders from excessively breeding and/or trafficking in dogs, consigning dogs to pets stores, animal brokers, or known puppy mill kennels, or releasing dogs to private or city/county shelters.
